so im home for spring break and just relaxing. its nice for once. my laptop is all fucked so i havent had more chances to update but i saw this on my brothers computer and just had to post it.

On 1988, july 23, Bruce Springsteen skipped a VIP-arrangement during his tour in Denmark and took a walk down the street. There he met the street musician John Magnusson and asked him if he could borrow one of his guitars. Apparently they played a few songs together while about 50 people stopped around and listened to the music.

dead tired was a lot o fun, im starting to really get into this band. i broke my glasses during their set and it was a bum out. scheisse minelli played and they ruled. they were from germany and their guitar player got fucked at customs and had to go back, so the singer played guitar and sang. that was really cool. covered gg allin and everyone lost it. killin it played, the whole place was crazy, people loosing it so hard. it was awesome.

i think even before that was another great show at the moldhole.

had been looking forward to this show for like a month. guilt trip ruled again. killin it was sick, got a 2nd guitar player and i could actually hear the vocals, i was psyched. sea creature, i felt like i should have been really into it but it was kinda light for me if that makes sense. mother night was heavy, the one guitar was super loud though and drowned out a lot of the other guitars. staring problem played the best set and i blacked out mentally moshing for a solid 5 minutes loosing it. it ruled.

The Capuchin Crypt is a room located beneath the church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini on the Via Veneto near Piazza Barberini in Rome, Italy.It is the final resting place for over 4,000 Capuchin monks, who died between 1528 and 1870, as well as several poor Romans. The soil in the crypt was brought from Jerusalem. Large numbers of the bones are nailed to the walls in intricate patterns, many are piled high among countless others, some hang from the ceiling as working light fixtures. There are six total rooms in the crypt, all but one featuring a unique display of human bones.

The first room, the Crypt of the Resurrection, features a picture of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. The second room, the Mass Chapel, is an area used to celebrate Mass, and as such does not contain bones.

In the altar-piece, Jesus and Mary exhort St. Felix of Cantalice, St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Anthony of Padua to free souls from Purgatory. The heart of Maria Felice Peretti, the grand-niece of Pope Sixtus V, is also preserved in this room. The third, fourth, and fifth rooms are, respectively, the Crypt of the Skulls, the Crypt of the Pelvises, and the Crypt of the Leg Bones and Thigh Bones. In the last room of the crypt, the Crypt of the Three Skeletons, a placard in five languages declares "What you are now we used to be, what we are now you will be."

Palermo's Capuchin monastery outgrew its original cemetery in the 16th century and monks begun to excavate crypts below it. In the 1599 they mummified one of their number, recently-dead brother Silvestro of Gubbio, and placed him into the catacombs.

The bodies were dehydrated on the racks of ceramic pipes in the catacombs and sometimes later washed with vinegar. Some of the bodies were embalmed and others enclosed in sealed glass cabinets. Monks were preserved with their everyday clothing and sometimes with ropes they had worn as a penance.

Originally the catacombs were intended only for the dead friars. However, in the following centuries it became a status symbol to be entombed into the capuchin catacombs. In their wills, local luminaries would ask to be preserved in certain clothes, or even to have their clothes changed at regular intervals. Priests wore their clerical vestments, others were clothed according to the contemporary fashion. Relatives would visit to pray for the deceased and also to maintain the body in presentable condition. The catacombs were maintained through the donations of the relatives of the deceased. Each new body was placed in a temporary niche and later placed into a more permanent place. As long as the contributions continued, the body remained in its proper place but when the relatives did not send money any more, the body was put aside on a shelf until they continued to pay.

The last friar interred into the catacombs was Brother Riccardo in 1871 but other famous people were still interred. The catacombs were officially closed for use in 1880 but tourists continued to visit them. However,

the last burials are from the 1920s. One of the very last to be interred was Rosalia Lombardo, then two years old, whose body is still remarkably intact, preserved with a procedure now lost: the embalmer, Professor Alfredo Salafia took his method with him to his grave.

The catacombs contain about 8000 mummies that line the walls. The halls are divided into categories: Men, Women, Virgins, Children, Priests, Monks, and Professionals. Some bodies are better preserved than others.

Famous people buried in the catacombs include:

* Colonel Enea DiGuiliano (in French Bourbon uniform)
* Salvatore Manzella, surgeon
* Lorenzo Marabitti, sculptor
* Filipo Pennino, sculptor
* Son of a king of Tunis who had converted to Catholicism
* Allegedly Velasquez, Spanish painter, although his grave is officially unknown
* Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa is sometimes said to be buried in the catacombs, but he is buried in the cemetery next to them.

The catacombs are open to the public. Taking photographs inside is prohibited although the bodies were shown in detail in the fourth episode of the 2006 BBC TV series Francesco's Italy: Top to Toe.

Also, iron grills have been installed to prevent tourists tampering or posing with the corpses.

well this show fucking ruled. had a great time and saw so many crucial people.

PINELANDS. this band was cool, had that quicksand vibe to them. i was digging it, too bad not to many people got to see them. it was like they started playing and there was like 4 people there, and then by the end of their set it was packed.

DAGGERS. stole the fucking show. geoff has the biggest drum set in the world, 2 full stacks. one basement, fuck. so complete shredding, grotzky kill it. garrett and pete shredded. i love these guys and this band. i got whisky and beer spit directly in my face and i loved every second of it. cocaine motorbike.

DEAD TIRED. way better then the last time i saw them, people were into it and losing it, it ruled. bands growing on me.

RSO. i was so drunk by the time they played i dont really remember any of it, other then they played really solid and i believe they did a supertouch cover, or said they would and i remember stage diving twice and just falling. i dont even know man.

SEA CREATURE. i was tripped out with the lights off and the projector. heavy heavy jams. i couldnt really watch the whole time cause i couldnt get in the room. so good.

MACHINE. machine was spinning records in the other room, and it was killer, got in and out.

then we went over to MACHINES place to go watch this dj from ireland, whose name i cant remember. it was like techno and hard house stuff, i was loosing it.

great time seeing all the daggers dudes and meeting a bunch of people. life ruled.

the measure-great stuff, liked the record and they were great live. some minor tech difficulties with the sound but it ruled.

the steinways- i wasnt too psyched on them but they had a bunch of catchy songs that kept me into it. so it was pretty good.

the groucho marxists-i dont really remember what this band sounded like but they werent too great or too bad, just in the middle. their singer looked like mike myers which was blowing my mind though.

hunchback-this band fucked my mind so hard. i really thought they were a pop punk band for like 10 years and now i find out they are just insane crazy awesome music, i dont even know how to describe it. so good.

for science-set of the night, totally killed it. played so many good songs, when they played soledad i lost it and started jumping on people. i really like this band and need to see them as much as possible.

dustheads-best band. seriously drunk. the singer started the set by saying " FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING FAGGOTS, DONT TOUCH ME, HATE US" and the rest of the set ruled just as much as that. throwing drinks glass bottles water bottles at people, lots of yelling at the crowd, throwing the guitar player into the bass player. punching the guitar player. everything ruled. they also played one of the best nirvana covers somehow which also ruled. great set.

the ergs-best band in new jersey, they played song 8 off upstairs/downstairs and thats my new favorite ergs song. such great energy and fucking catchy songs. i loved every second of it. ended with hunchback playing upstairs/downstairs with them and people crowd surfing intruments and stuff. it ruled.

the night was great, the merch was great, the bands were great, everything ruled.

im really high right now. and i have the best idea for a painting that will be getting done this week by someone. also, dustheads collections record rules. im moshing.

so heres what ive been listening to lately.

i recently got really into behexen, and they are seriously great. solid black metal, straight up metal the entire record. their new record came out, by the blessing of satan, and it rips. i mean, look at these dudes.

also please listen to the new deathspell omega record, well its not really that new, but its seriously good.

here are a list of records that i have been really into lately:
Tear it up/E.T.A split---this split is seriously fucking amazing. i cant stop listening to it and i cant believe its 2008 and i now just got this. tear it up is probably the best if not top 3 bands in new jersey ever. both sides kill, i really dig the E.T.A side as well.

Metallica-and justice for all---do i even have to explain? if you arent banging your head or air guitaring on top of your bed then we were probably never friends. one of my favorite records, always good.

discount-half fiction----i saw this band when i was in 6th grade and i guess i didnt really get it. i got a shirt and their demo or record or whatever then and since have lost the record but i believe still have the shirt. this band always gets me in that nostalgic way when you think about being younger and punk and listening to all that good stuff. this record is actually really good though, and would suggest it for anyone into pop punk with girl vocals that can be really catchy and melodic.

lemuria-your living rooms all over me---ok seriously, if you havent seen or heard this band and like anything like real screeching weasel/erg style pop punk you need to hear this band. the girls voice is killer and the songs get stuck in your head for months. i love it.

venom-welcome to hell---originators of black metal. i dont listen to this record nearly as enough as i should. has a bunch of live tracks on it. i dig.

chuck ragan-both his solo records---this is chuck from hot water musics solo stuff. good catchy stuff, havent gotten to into listening to it yet with the 100 other records ive just got but from the songs ive heard it was good stuff.

angel witch-angel witch---new wave of fucking british heavy metal. the band is called angel witch, the records called angel witch, there is a song called angel witch. NWOBHM at its finest, shredding guitars over the top vocals, ur bangin ur head. YOUR AN ANGEL WITCH, YOUR AN ANGEL WITCH. get it.

negative approach-complete discog----cant put into words what this band has done. they are everything that fast punk and hardcore should ever sound like and every band should cover them. negative approach rules and if you have never heard of them and are into any punk what so ever please find some songs and listen. cant praise them enough. trash talk-plagues and walking disease----newer hardcore from california. really bummed i missed them when they were out here. the first record walking disease absolutely slays in complete thrash hardcore. the newer record plagues does the same, continuing the thrashing and the under a minute songs. im really loving it and hope that more bands start to sound like this.

reign supreme-fuck the weak and their demo---this band is heavy, i mean like earthquake heavy. i seriously dont even understand how a recording device could capture that but fuck. im really feeling both these releases and excited to hear the new record on deathwish/malfunction. i need to see this band live.

charles manson-discog---i never knew this psycho played music, but alot of it is really cool. kinda beach boys rocky doors janis joplin type stuff. normally im not that into it but these songs are good. i also got some spoken word type stuff and i cant even explain that shit. would suggest the family jams one cause there are a lot of good tracks on that as well as LIE.

the tuss-rushup edge----i think this is aphex twin doing more techno stuff. who knows, its really good and i like it. if you like squarepusher, aphex twin, etc, get it.

wendy and lemmy---this is a 3 song record that has lemmy of motorhead fame and wendy o of the plasmatics. they cover stand by your man. who would win in a fight? lemmy or god? trick question lemmy is god. songs fucking rule.

frogball-demo---sloppy punk from boston. songs about sitting on a couch and partying and pizza. cant go wrong, they got me sold. they actually are pretty good too and im diggin the singers voice.

the ergs-acoustic record/ upstairs/downstairs---this band can do no wrong. seriously, i found some acoustic record and though it was fake, but it is real and has some ramones covers as well as their stuff acoustic. its great. upstairs/downstairs has been played in my car like 400 times since i bought it over the summer, so psyched to see them on saturday. best band.

american nightmare-background music---this record has been banging in my car as well lately, and it just goes on repeat. i almost crashed my car while listening to this record and also bruised my thigh from punching it repetively during there is a black hole in the shadow of peru. this band is my favorite hardcore band ever for thousands of reasons, and i really dont think that i will ever get tired of this record.

hellhammer-apocolyptic raids---original black metal at its finest. love the band and the record, if you think you like black metal at all and dont own this your sleeping.

carpathian forest-through chasms, caves, and titan woods---this record is awesome, i really like what carpathian forest is doing and think they are crazy fucks. more black metal, lots of riffin.

pregnant-demo---new punk band, i think the dude that played guitar in mother night is in. i cant really think of what they sound like, but im into this demo a lot. kinda reminds me of a more modern and catchier version of the buzzcocks, but that might be a terrible description.

weakling-dead as dreams----everyone says that wolves in the throne room ripped this band. they do sound alike and weakling is an original doom band, so if you like the wolves records you will definitely like this. solid record, makes me want to fall into a couch of weed and smoke my way out of the forest. yea.

sargeist-satanic black devotion---satanic black metal. members of behexens first band. fucking awesome. great lyrics and symbolism, i cant stop listening to stuff like this.

behexen-discog---finish black metal, completely heavy and satanic. christ forever die. do i need to explain anymore?

leviathin-10th sub level of suicide---one man band suicidal depressive black metal. slow songs about killing yourself, guy does it great. i believe hes on southern lord now too? good for him, all of his records are great. sounds like xasthur if your into him too.

crowbar-discog----i dont know how i never heard this band until recently. seriously wrote the blueprint for doom, heavy heavy songs with lots of riffs and really good lyrics that are very well thought out. i would recommend this band over a lot of others. grab and a bong and bang your fucking head.

von-satanic blood angel---more satanic black metal, this records production is worse then other black metal records, and its hard to make out some of the songs but i guess thats cool.

i shalt become-in the falling snow---really good driving black metal, hard and slow, depressive black metal. great for driving in a norwegian forest on the night of a full moon during the snow.

deadguy-screaming with the deadguy quartet/fixation on a coworker---new jersey metal. cant get enough of it. fixation is amazing and i just got screaming. i love both records and wish i got a change to see them before they broke up. hard stuff.

black sails-overcast---this is seriously great new jersey hardcore. this is one of the best demos ive heard in such a long time. This band really makes me psyched on nj right now. they arent one of those bands that just knows everyone and has tons of connections. they put in the work and make great fucking music. i hope to get to see them in the near future cause this demo rules. if you havent heard it yet go to myspace and listen to it and realize what your missing out on.

drive by truckers-brighter than creations dark---continously great records by the truckers. even with out jason they continue to right the best songs possible. this record has tons of stand out tracks and is like 19 songs long. when was the last time you saw a 19 song record come out? seriously great. if you like the other stuff you will continue to enjoy the sounds.

breakdown-s/t----nyhc. if you dont know now, please get into it. sick people, im moshing.

inferi-shores of sorrow---black metal. straight up, i like it.

david-demo---band that me and 2 friends did, in the vein of majority rules, his hero is gone, other heavy stuff. i really like this stuff and hope to play it live one day. myspace.com/davidband

new band demo---last week me and miller went into hyper snakes studios to record the demo for our new band. we recorded less then we thought we would but really love the 2 songs that we have. the lyrics are written and we are just going to practice the songs and record the vocals before people really hear it. heavy stuff sounds like darkthrone, minor threat, black flag, and other stuff. i hate explaining my own band.

deathspell omega-fas---solid french black metal record. im really psyched on it as well as others in the black metal community. no one reading this probably listens to black metal at all, so whatever, but if you need somewhere to start that isnt too abrasive and in your face, this record is really good.

oasis-dont believe the truth----its oasis. i downloaded this record and forgot why, its got some stand out tracks.

also live set from sound and fury (have heart, down to nothing, and blacklisted)--blacklisted sounds great, have heart the dude barely sings at all, and down to nothing is hard.

posi #s (cold world)--recording is god awful, cant hear shit.

kid dynamite live reunion 2005---awesome songs, i was at the show and it rules to hear it recorded. one of the best weekends of my life. me and jberg saw liftime reunion/loved ones/bouncing souls one night and then the next was kid dynamite/grey area. i miss those bands.

new blacklisted song "weighing me down" ---- i really liked the song when i first heard it, its got that newer kinda vibe to it and was pretty heavy. the explanation of the lyrics is what really made me love the song and it coming from the dude who wrote that song ruled. i love this band, dare i say favorite hardcore band right now? i think i can safely say that.

also i dont just love every record ever. i get like a billion records a week and dont listen to half of them, these are records that ive gotten in the last month that im really into, and they are all great. if someone is actually reading this and requests some of them i can put them up.

In a recent interview, Paul Reubens told MTV details about the two new Pee Wee movies that are currently in the works. One is an extension of Pee Wee’s Playhouse in which all the original characters (such as Miss Yvonne and Penny) venture out of the playhouse and into the vast unexplained territory of “puppetland” (he says it will be like the Wizard of Oz). The other movie is the “dark”, R-rated Pee Wee movie, and will be about Pee Wee becoming an Elvis-like singer/actor and turning into an asshole from all the fame. It’s been almost 20 years since my most favorite of characters graced either the big or small screen.

Thrasher magazine. Thrasher is the best skateboarding magazine ever. Transworld has cool pictures and shit but always has super lame articles about nonsense. They do get cool skaters but its just the same run of the mill questions asked. Thrasher completely kills their competition in this idea. Totally interesting and awesome articles about great skaters and a lot of new or up and coming skaters that a lot of people havent heard about. They also cover tons of awesome bands and when i was like 14 and 15 i heard of so many bands that i still listen to today from this magazine. I just renewed my subscription after not having one for the last like 6 years and i couldnt be more excited. Its an amazing magazine and i miss getting psyched every first week of the month waiting for it to come in the mail so i could read it from front to back and then rip out all the gnarly pix and hang them on my wall.

You always see those kids who suck at sports, but are complete sports nerds. Like kids who can regurgitate scotty pippens entire career in stats to you in 10 seconds, but can do a lay up. I was always that kid when it came to skateboarding. maybe not as well knowledged, but i knew my shit back in the day. I could ollie sometimes and half flip everything but nothing else, but i could tell you about how gnarly the new eric koston spread was in a new mag or how awesome chad muska's part in fulfill the dream.

On thinking of that, how good was that video. im just going to list a few videos that i think rule that i can remember watching and thinking wow this is serious.
this is some of my favorites in pictures.

Enjoi- Bag of Suck. This is a newer video compared to the rest but it completely shreds. Every dude in it is killing it, koston, hsu, bartletta, johnson, everyone. this video will blow your mind.

Osiris- The storm. I honestly havent watched this video in maybe 8 years, but i still remember it as being one of the most anticipated releases ever. When it came out it didnt dissapoint. Completely awesome skating with tons of great skaters, lots of great tech stuff. If you have never seen this please god do yourself a favor and watch it.
Blind Video Days. Super old, lots of old school skating. I believe Ronnie Creger's part in this is ridiculously awesome. Love it or leave it.

Baker2G-7 Day Weekend. This is probably my top video of all time, im sure people will argue but it seriously is amazing. Everyones parts rule, especially Andrew Reynolds. The fact that they lied about shooting this footage for a friends video and then started a completelyyyy different company was crazy. Not to mention they have some of the most serious skaters and just completely scummy dudes. Piss Drunx in full effect, Greco, Dollin, the whole crew.

Rodney Mullen vs. Daewon Song-Round 1. when i first recieved this video i think i watched it like 10 times in a row. Both dudes completely blow your mind on the tech style and seriously i think this was ahead of its time. I mean people are doing tech now but no one has the style that these two dudes do. There is this one clip of daewon doing a front blunt stall kickflip out to fakie that is so butter you call him up and ask to replace your tv for melting it. serious.

Shorty's Fulfill the Dream- This video was seriously the cool video to watch when it came out when i was in like 6th or 7th grade. I used to go to my friend Pads to watch this all the time or try and borrow it or anything to watch it. Muska's part ruled. Peter Smolik ruled. Remember Smolik? what ever happened to that dude? whatever, his part in this rules.

Real to Reel- I really enjoyed this video and all the songs skated too in it rule. A lot of people can shred but when you have the lamest song ever playing it sucks. The Sizzla song that Matt Field skates to makes you want to loose your mind and jump down a 10 stair. Cairo Foster's part got my so psyched to even just get on a skateboard and ollie onto a curb and he skates to the best Modest Mouse song. and Im pretty sure the Gonz is in this too. If not then someone correct me but he does an early grab down a double set and your mind is officially blown. He seriously could film himself skating down a flat street with no curbs and it would be cool.

these reviews are completely my view on the videos and what i remember of them, and how awesome i thought they were. There are definitely a lot of other videos that i didnt mention that i thoroughly love and enjoy and if i think of them ill write them up soon. These videos meant a lot to me and im sure a lot of other people feel the same. also i really need to see the new Lakai video cause i hear its amazing as wellllll as the nike sb debut video.

honorable mentions for videos i liked but werent major companies:
Division East - Daggers and The Final Countdown---people i know or knew or sorta knew shredding and it was awesome. throw one of those in and feel the nostalgia run over you.

Fossilized hadrosaur is revealing lots of dino secrets

WASHINGTON - One of the most complete dinosaur mummies ever found is revealing secrets locked away for millions of years, bringing researchers as close as they will ever get to touching a live dino.

The fossilized duckbilled hadrosaur is so well preserved that scientists have been able to calculate its muscle mass and learn that it was more muscular than thought, probably giving it the ability to outrun predators such as T. rex.

While they call it a mummy, the dinosaur is not really preserved like King Tut was.

The dinosaur body has been fossilized into stone. Unlike the collections of bones found in museums, this hadrosaur came complete with skin, ligaments, tendons and possibly some internal organs, according to researchers.

The study isn't complete, but scientists have concluded that hadrosaurs were bigger and stronger than had been known, were quick and flexible and had skin with scales that may have been striped.

"Oh, the skin is wonderful," paleontologist Phillip Manning of Manchester University in England rhapsodized, admitting to a "glazed look in my eye."

"It's unbelievable when you look at it for the first time," he said in a phone interview. "There is depth and structure to the skin. The level of detail expressed in the skin is just breathtaking."

Manning said there is a pattern of banding to the larger and smaller scales on the skin. Because it has been fossilized researchers do not know the skin color. Looking at it in monochrome shows a striped pattern.

He notes that in modern reptiles, such a pattern is often associated with color change.

The fossil was found in 1999 in North Dakota and now is nicknamed "Dakota." It is being analyzed in the world's largest CT scanner, operated by the Boeing Co. The machine usually is used for space shuttle engines and other large objects.

Researchers hope the technology will help them learn more about the fossilized insides of the creature.

"It's a definite case of watch this space," Manning said. "We are trying to be very conservative, very careful."

But they have learned enough so far to produce two books and a television program. The TV special, "Dino Autopsy," will air on the National Geographic channel next Sunday. National Geographic Society partly funded the research.

A children's book, "DinoMummy: The Life, Death, and Discovery of Dakota, a Dinosaur From Hell Creek," goes on sale tomorrow and an adult book, "Grave Secrets of Dinosaurs: Soft Tissues and Hard Science," will be available in January.

Soft parts of dead animals normally decompose rapidly after death. Because of chemical conditions where this animal died, fossilization - replacement of tissues by minerals - took place faster than the decomposition, leaving mineralized portions of the tissue.

That does not mean DNA, the building blocks of life, can be recovered, Manning said. Some has been recovered from frozen mammoths up to 1 million years old, he said. At the age of this dinosaur, 65 million to 67 million years old, "the chance of finding DNA is remote," he said.

A Manchester colleague, Roy Wogelius, who also worked on the dinosaur, said "one thing that we are very confident of is that we do have some organic molecular breakdown products present." That look at chemicals associated with the animal is still research in progress.

Matthew Carrano, a paleontologist at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, said he could not comment in detail about the find because he had not seen the research. But, he added, "Any time we can get a glimpse of the soft anatomy of a dinosaur, that's significant."

The findings from Dakota may cause museums to rethink their dinosaur displays.

Most dinosaur skeletons in museums, for example, show the vertebrae right next to one another. The researchers looking at Dakota found a gap of about a centimeter - about 0.4 inch - between each one.

That indicates there may have been a disk or other material between them, allowing more flexibility and meaning the animal was actually longer than what is shown in a museum. On large animals, adding the space could make them a yard longer or more, Manning said.

Because ligaments and tendons were preserved, as well as other parts of Dakota, researchers could to calculate its muscle mass, showing it was stronger and potentially faster than had been known.

They estimated the hadrosaur's top speed at about 28 miles per hour, 10 mph faster than the giant T. Rex is thought to have been able to run.

"It's very logical, though, that a hadrosaur could run faster than a T. rex. It's a major prey animal and it doesn't have big horns on its head like triceratops. Hadrosaurs didn't have much in the way of defense systems, so they probably relied on fleet of foot," Manning said.

Dakota was discovered by Tyler Lyson, then a teenager who liked hunting for fossils on his family ranch. Lyson, who is working on his doctorate degree in paleontology at Yale, founded the Marmarth Research Foundation, an organization dedicated to the excavation, preservation and study of dinosaurs. *

got there earlier then i wanted to and found out there was like 4 local bands that were playing for some reason. all of them sounded like each other and played terribly, no one really watched them and it was terribly boring. once that was finally over the show really started

Japanese power trio Boris return with another limited offering. With only 5000 units pressed, ‘Rock Dream’ is a brilliant two disc set of a live collaboration between Boris and the legendary Japanese master of abrasion, Merzbow. Capturing a performance at “Earthdom” in Tokyo on November 18, 2006, this stellar soundboard recording proves that these artists are no stranger to collaboration and their symmetrical chemistry burns a brightly shining path. What makes this formation particularly interesting is that both Boris and Merzbow seem to leave behind the expected to fully embrace the unknown. The usually harsh, corrosive grate of Merzbow isn’t as apparent with Boris involved, while the inspired charge of the Boris rock machine seems to reach new heights with Merzbows’ intuitive textures added. As Merzbow doesn’t totally dominate this recording, he seems to fit flawlessly in with the group, beautifully adding noise, synth and effects, while dubbing it up. Playing is dense, but everything is well present in the mix and there is a bottom end to speak of. Standout tracks include the collaborations’ epic take on “Feedback”, “Black Out” and “Just Abandoned Myself”. For Boris collectors and completists, there is a previously unreleased track (”Evil Stack”, a brief noise piece evolving from the end of “Black Out”), as well as a PYG cover (”Flower Sun Rain”). Taken as a whole, ‘Rock Dream’ it is an exhausting listen, but one that is sure to leave listeners floored.
